Dealing with us
What happens after I send the enquiry form?
Your message goes to a specialist legionella firm that covers Birmingham. That firm contacts you directly, asks about the premises and the water system, and explains what a risk assessment involves. If you want to go ahead, the assessment is booked with that firm at its set price. Birmingham Legionella itself does not carry out the survey.
How do I ask about booking a legionella risk assessment or a compliance audit?
Use the enquiry form on this site. Give the premises address and postcode, a phone number you answer, and say whether the building is rented, owner occupied or run as a business. Name the service you want, legionella risk assessments or legionella compliance audits, or describe the water system if you are unsure which fits.
How long will I wait for a reply?
No reply time is promised, because the specialist firm works to its own diary. If a tenancy start, a sale or a compliance deadline is pressing, put urgent in your message and say what the deadline is. The firm will read it with that in mind, though it still cannot confirm a date until it has spoken to you.
Does sending the form tie me to a booking?
It does not. The form asks for contact and nothing more. You can talk through the premises with the specialist firm, hear what the assessment covers and what it costs, and then decide whether to book. If you would rather leave it there, that is fine.
What is worth having ready before the specialist firm calls?
Photos help: cold water tanks, calorifiers, shower heads and any outlet that rarely gets used. Note when you first had a concern and anything that has changed, such as new pipework, a long spell of empty rooms or a different hot water setting. An earlier assessment or water log, if one exists, is useful too.
Which areas are covered?
Bookings are taken across Birmingham and the surrounding towns named on the areas page. Send the full postcode with your enquiry so the specialist firm can check whether the address falls inside its patch. If your town is not listed, ask anyway and the firm will say whether it can help.
I let out flats and the water looks clear. Is a risk assessment still relevant?
Legionella can grow in a system that looks perfectly clear, so appearance tells you little. Landlords have duties to assess and manage the risk in rented premises, and any assessment has to match the actual system and how it is used. What counts is whether the risk is managed, not one fixed document. Give the specialist firm the details and it will say if a survey is worth booking.
I am buying a property and the survey flagged the water system. Can I book an assessment?
Yes. Buyers often ask for a legionella risk assessment when a report raises a question or a lender wants more detail. Mention your completion date in the enquiry so the specialist firm knows the timescale, and say who can let someone in. The firm will confirm whether it can work to that date.
Who actually carries out the assessment?
A specialist firm does the work, not Birmingham Legionella. This site takes your booking and the specialist firm receives the details. The person who attends surveys the tanks, pipework and outlets, records what is found and explains the findings to you. Any certificate comes from that firm.
